Jan 14th 2011....

The Journey starts to an Amazing land of Green, which is also called as a tear drop of India started. It was early morning 7 we boarded into Air India Express flight at the Chennai Airport, the departure got delayed by 30 mins due to dew factor.

The sky got cleared, we are all set to fly over the Bay of Bengal. It was an hour travel to reach the Colombo Airport. We were altogether 14 people out of which we 6 are the best friends ( Vinay, Girish, Babi, Ashwin, G and Myself). We were greeted by the Srilankan guide Tuan... an amazing personality who was like one amongst us and really had a good time with him. An A/C mini bus was waiting for us.

Day-1:

Dambulla:

It was almost 6 hrs drive from Colombo to Dambulla with the green topped trees and nice roads. The best part of Srilanka was their Cashew  girls selling cashew on the roadsides while heading to Dambulla. Our beloved friends were very much excited to see them--- on top of that our lovely Giri used to call them as Khaju girls (that was funny).

And our Giri was named as "Aashwin" from Tuan.. :)

We stopped on the way to Dambulla for Lunch. That was a nice resort specially for the tourists comes through the travel agency.The food was amazing coz we were hungry and due to pathetic breakfast in the flight.

We have reached Dambulla around 4 PM to see the big Buddha's temple, where you can see many Buddha's idols in different postures. We missed our fren Kiran (Kiri) who is one step ahead of Buddha in giving pose to the camera... kidding.

 It was a fun filled day-1 which was almost getting over with the dark clouds. So we have to drop out "polonnaruwa" and went to the Forest Bourder Resort--- which was an extraordinary place to stay over night. The way we enjoyed in the pool and the dance in the room was amazing.
G's "Jhanagi chakka Jhaangi chakka Jhaang" dance step and our Giri's amazing dance was a best example of our thrill. Sorry guys im not able to upload the video due to discrete content. And the Paranormal Activity story made Giri to sleep alone-- (Geeri was very Brave).

And the next day morning was an amazing experience with no water made Ashwin and Girish to spend almost an hour in the Loo, and our new Aashwin shouted on me and Vinay for not bringing the water from the pool. That was very funny. Then we went to the other resort for the breakfast and bath.

Day-2:

Sigiriya :
Its a must see place in Srilanka and also an UNESCO maintained site. A huge rock on which Kashyapa - King of Sigiriya who had built his kingdom with romantic parks. He was very much fond of ladies and not sure how many wives he had. We were making fun of his throne and other seats. It was totally tiring and a good workout for your legs. We had to climb nearly around 1000 steps. Not sure for what joy the king had kept his throne on top, by the time you reach the top you will be totally exhausted.

After this we went for Elephant ride and headed towards Kandy. Its a clean and cool city like our Bengaluru.
Had a nice dinner and breakfast at Hilltop Kandy. This could be one of the best Hotel with boarding facility in Kandy.

Day-3:

Kandy-Nuverelia:

Kandy is one of the main cities of Srilanka. It was like our Bangalore and also a cool place but not polluted like our's. A clean city and an expensive place when you mark on the digits.

Chicken = 350 rs/kg
Mutton = 550 rs/kg
Pomegranate = 720 rs/kg
Axe Deodorant = 550 rs

Note:- The above value refers in Srilankan Rupees

We packed our clothes as usual and boarded the bus. Next visit was a Buddha's temple where they have preserved the Buddha's Tooth Relic. Its one of the most Buddhist religious country. After visiting the Buddhist temple, we went to have a short look at the Gem Factory---seriously it was boring.

We started our journey towards Nuverelia-- U can call it as Ooty of Srilanka. On the way we stopped for Lunch at a place called Ramboda Falls which has got an amazing scenic beauty, it is an eye catching place and a view to remember. Had a good lunch with lemon tea. This is the best place to relax with the stunning looks of the nature.

After this we had visited a Tea Factory which came on the way to Nuverelia.A lady was explaining about the process of Tea making and our Giri was asking so many questions that too in Tamil. I was looking at the Yamaha Dirt bike of the tea estate owner parked outside the office which costs around 2.5 Lakh Lankan rupees.

The best part of the trip was we got hair cut done in that place with the Lankan styles. It was just 100 SL rupees and the time he took was just 5 mins, that shows his skill. The best amongst us was Giri's. Looking exactly like a Srilankan.

We roamed in the town of Nuverelia and stayed in an Hotel and the next day started.

Day-4:

Bentota:
New day started and we started heading towards Bentota... a long shore line kissing the Indian ocean it remembers our ECR, Chennai. We had a good breakfast and packed out stuffs. The way towards Bentota was a ghat section with ups and downs and with right and left curves.
We visited the Tea museum on the way for a while, had green tea as usual and a small water falls was there opposite to the museum. It was a nice view to enjoy your time.

It was a nice experience to visit a car museum at the lunch place. The car museum was decorated with the Vintage RR, Jaguar, Porsche, VW and few others. It was a nice view next to the river Kwai. Then we started back towards the Berulia  for the stay at Tropical Villas, the perfect tourist stay. We reached Berulia around 8 PM and then went to the beach at night.

The only problem with the whole trip was food for Vinay and G....." miss hodithu "

Day-5:
Early morning at 7 had been to beach to see the beauty of Indian Ocean. It was a bright sunny day with the cool breeze, all our friends were enjoying the beach play and I was taking rest lying down on the shore. We went back to our villas and got ready for an amazing Bentota beach. It was a perfect place for the Scuba divers and Snorkelers. We all prepared and paid for a truly thrilling experience. Snorkeling was on of the best experience in my life time. Went on a boat for some hundred meters from the shore and jumped in the ocean with the snorkeling kit... was scared in the beginning and didn't know how to breath. Slowly learnt and went a last dive at the end where I saw mind blowing mushroom type corals in brown-white color. That was the best experience.

We headed towards Galle Fort. had lunch at Galle fort Hotel, it was a nice place where they have renovated the old  Portuguese building into Tourists Bunglow with a good hotel. After our lunch we turned back to Colombo.

We reached Colombo around 7 and been to a local mall for some purchase. That was almost end of our first overseas trip and waiting for the sunrise to fly back to our mother land.
It was a real good experience with the real good team. Hope this journey continues for ever.
